We are not just another insurance company, our DNA is product-tech, and our approach is bold, innovative, and digital-first. From zero commission, zero paperwork, and instant renewals to same-day claims settlements and app-based tracking, ACKO is a Welcome Change from traditional insurers.

But what truly sets us apart? Our people. At ACKO, every Acker’s voice and ideas matter. We’re a vibrant, inclusive team of creators, thinkers, and doers, building products that redefine protection while ensuring each Acker grows, thrives and does meaningful work.

Join us at ACKO, where bold ideas, real impact and tech-driven innovation redefine protection and peace of mind - and where YOU can make a real difference in people's lives. ACKO is a product-tech company, launched in 2016, solving real-world problems for customers, starting with insurance. And as a customer-first organization serving the digitally-savvy, ACKO’s value proposition of ‘Welcome Change’ focuses on offerings that make insurance simple and hassle-free! With features such as zero commission, zero paperwork, instant renewal, same-day claim settlements, and app-based updates on claims, ACKO is a 'Welcome Change' from traditional insurers.

Having said that, we are not just another conventional insurance firm, or the people consulted solely for "claims”! Anchored in a tech-centric philosophy, ACKO’s approach fuels innovation, empowering us to develop comprehensive products that cater to every aspect of our customers' insurance requirements. And while we are at it, we put our Ackers at the heart of everything we do. We're not your typical 9-to-5 workplace; we're a vibrant and inclusive bunch of innovators and creators making sure every Acker’s idea matters, their voice is heard, and their growth is part of our mission.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Product Designer (PD2) to own end-to-end design for one of our core product areas (Auto, Health, Life, or Growth) depending on where the fit is strongest. This is not a pixel-pushing role. You’ll be expected to think structurally about problems, make sharp decisions about user experience, and ship work that moves business metrics.

You’ll work closely with product managers, engineers, data analysts, and the design leadership team. The problems you’ll solve are messy and contextual: How do you personalise an experience for a first-time buyer in Pune vs. a returning customer in Mumbai? How do you design an engagement loop that builds trust, not fatigue? How do you make insurance, a product nobody wants to think about, feel like something that’s on your side?

What You’ll Do

  • Own design for a product area from problem framing through to shipped experience, including research synthesis, flows, interaction design, visual design, and post-launch iteration.

  • Collaborate deeply with Product and Engineering. You’ll be in the room when decisions are made, not downstream of them. We expect you to have opinions about scope, priorities, and trade-offs, not just layouts.

  • Work on structural UX problems: information architecture, personalisation logic, segmentation-driven interfaces, onboarding funnels, and retention mechanics.

  • Contribute to the ACKO design system and help evolve shared patterns across product areas.

  • Engage in regular design critiques, share your reasoning openly, and help raise the craft bar for the team.

  • Communicate design rationale clearly to cross-functional stakeholders, not as a pitch, but as a shared problem-solving exercise.

What We’re Looking For

  • 4-6 years of product design experience, with at least 2 years of sustained ownership of a product area (not just feature-level work across many projects).

  • Strong systems thinking. You see the flow, not just the screen. You can reason about how five different user segments experience the same surface differently.

  • Contextual judgment over borrowed frameworks. We care less about whether you know the Double Diamond and more about whether you can explain why a pattern that works for Revolut won’t work for an insurance buyer in India.

  • Comfort with ambiguity. The brief isn’t always clear. The backend might not support the ideal UX. You find a path that holds the line on user value without pretending constraints don’t exist.

  • Fluency in interaction and visual design. You don’t need to be an illustrator, but your shipped work should feel considered, not templated.

  • Clear communication. You can walk a room through your thinking: what you tried, what you discarded, and why.

  • Familiarity with Figma as your primary design tool.

  • Comfort using AI tools across your design workflow. You don’t need to be building custom agents, but you should be actively using AI for research synthesis, ideation, copywriting, prototyping, or similar. We’re looking for someone who treats these tools as a natural part of how they work, not something they’re planning to explore someday.

Bonus, Not Required

  • Experience in insurance, fintech, or other trust-sensitive, regulation-heavy domains.

  • Exposure to growth design: onboarding, activation, retention, or conversion-focused work.

  • Experience working with data teams to define and validate design hypotheses.

  • Comfort with prototyping tools or light front-end code for testing ideas.

How We Evaluate

Our hiring process is designed to simulate the kind of work you’d actually do here. Expect:

  • A portfolio walkthrough focused on depth, not breadth. We’ll want to understand your process on one or two projects: the decisions you made, the trade-offs you navigated, and what you’d do differently.

  • A live whiteboarding session where we’ll work through a real, contextual problem together. We’re evaluating how you think, not how fast you can produce polished output.

  • Conversations with your potential collaborators in Product and Engineering to assess mutual fit.

Why ACKO

  • Design has a seat at the table. Your work shapes product strategy, not just product surfaces.

  • You’ll work on problems with real impact. Insurance touches health, financial security, and peace of mind for millions of families.

  • Small team, high ownership. No waiting months for your work to ship.

  • A leadership team that values directness, craft, and original thinking over process theatre.
