About the Role
ACKO is hiring an experienced Senior Technical Program Manager to lead our core financial accounting, sub-ledger, and regulatory reporting technology engine. In this high-visibility role, you will bridge the gap between business strategy, accounting rigor, and high-scale engineering. You will partner directly with executive stakeholders including the CFO team, Business Finance, Controllership, Actuarial, Data Analytics, and Core Tech teams to design, build, and deliver scalable finance tech solutions across all insurance lines.
What You Will Own
Program Strategy & Delivery Management: Drive the vision, roadmap, and execution for the reporting portfolio. Manage cross-functional dependencies, prioritize backlogs, enforce delivery accountability, and proactively mitigate technical and operational risks.
Functional Design: Translate complex finance Business Requirement Documents (BRDs) into detailed functional specifications. Define product events, sub-ledger posting rules, accounting schemas, multi-entity setups, exception-handling logic, and automated reconciliation criteria.
Domain Integration & Coverage: Lead end-to-end requirement mapping across premium engine accounting, claims/reserving feeds, reinsurance accounting, vendor/channel partner settlement pipelines, IFRS 17 / Ind AS implementations, and IRDAI / IIB regulatory filings.
Hands-On Technical Investigation: Directly analyze transaction pipelines and financial data models using SQL, AI-assisted analytics tools, and financial models. Troubleshoot data anomalies, trace root causes across upstream event streams vs. sub-ledger calculations, and drive resolution.
Data Governance & System Integrity: Ensure end-to-end data lineage, auditability, and balance-sheet integrity across high-volume transactional pipelines and enterprise GL systems.
What You Bring
Relevant Experience: 8-12 years of technical program management or product delivery experience leading enterprise financial systems, accounting sub-ledgers, or finance technology transformations.
Domain Expertise: Strong mastery of financial accounting workflows, sub-ledger to GL integration, and reporting frameworks. Direct experience in the insurance sector (P&C, Health, Reinsurance) and IFRS 17 / Ind AS 117 implementation is highly preferred.
Hands-On Analytical Capability: Basic SQL proficiency in cloud data warehouses (e.g., Google BigQuery, Snowflake), know-how of finance tools and models, and comfortable leveraging modern AI/LLM tools for fast debugging and specification drafting.
Stakeholder & Leadership Skills: Proven track record of influencing cross-functional leaders (CFO, Controllership, Chief Actuary, VP of Engineering) and managing competing business priorities with clarity and assertiveness.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, or equivalent. CA, CPA, or MBA in Finance/Systems is a strong plus.
What Success Looks Like
Clear Functional Specs: 100% of finance requirements are backed by production-ready accounting rules, validated schemas, and clear acceptance criteria prior to engineering sprint planning.
Predictable Execution: Technical deliverables meet targeted release dates with zero critical post-release accounting defects or unmapped event drops.
Accelerated Financial Close: Measurable reduction in month-end accounting close timelines and automated reconciliation turnaround times.
Regulatory & Audit Compliance: On-time execution of IRDAI/IIB regulatory reporting pipelines with zero non-compliance audit exceptions.
