Global Indirect Procurement Category Manager

Job Purpose

This position leads and manages a team of procurement professionals responsible for Indirect Procurement, Procure-to-Pay (P2P) activities, and category management within a Global Business Services (GBS) or multinational environment.

The Global Indirect Procurement Category Manager is responsible for the effective management of assigned indirect procurement categories, including sourcing, purchasing, supplier management, spend management, process compliance, and continuous improvement.

This role provides strategic and operational leadership to ensure procurement activities support business requirements, deliver value, optimize supplier performance, and comply with established procurement policies, procedures, and controls.

The position works closely with global stakeholders, business leaders, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to drive procurement strategies, standardization, operational excellence, and process improvements across the organization.

Essential Functions

  • Lead, manage, and develop a team of procurement professionals supporting Indirect Procurement and P2P activities within a global environment.
  • Manage assigned indirect procurement categories, ensuring effective sourcing, purchasing, supplier management, and alignment with business requirements.
  • Develop and implement category strategies focused on cost optimization, supplier performance, risk management, and process efficiency.
  • Oversee the end-to-end P2P process, including requisitions, purchase orders, supplier management, invoice resolution, and issue escalation.
  • Monitor spend, savings, supplier performance, service levels, and procurement KPIs to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Partner with global stakeholders and business teams to understand procurement needs and provide effective solutions.
  • Manage strategic relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders, ensuring service quality and compliance.
  • Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, procedures, internal controls, and applicable regulations.
  • Identify opportunities to standardize, automate, and improve indirect procurement processes across global operations.
  • Support the implementation and adoption of procurement systems, ERP platforms, and digital tools.
  • Analyze procurement and operational data using Advanced Excel and Power BI to identify trends, risks, process gaps, and opportunities.
  • Establish and monitor team performance metrics, service levels, and operational objectives.
  • Provide coaching, feedback, and development opportunities to build a high-performing procurement team.
  • Collaborate with global and cross-functional teams to resolve complex procurement and P2P issues.
  • Lead or support procurement projects, transformation initiatives, and change management activities.
  • Drive continuous improvement and standardization across indirect procurement operations.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Procurement, Logistics, Finance, Operations, or a related field.

A related advanced degree or professional procurement certification is preferred.

Minimum Experience

  • Six (6) years of progressive professional experience in Procurement, Indirect Procurement, Purchasing, Procure-to-Pay (P2P), Category Management, or related functions.
  • Previous experience in Indirect Procurement within a multinational, global, or Global Business Services (GBS)/Shared Services environment is required.
  • Proven experience managing indirect procurement categories and supplier relationships.
  • Previous experience leading or managing a procurement team.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations, spend management, and procurement operations.
  • Experience managing procurement performance, savings, spend, service levels, and operational metrics.
  • Experience identifying and implementing process improvements, standardization, and procurement transformation initiatives.
  • Experience working with global stakeholders, multinational teams, and international suppliers.
  • Experience with Talent Management and people leadership.
  • Strong understanding of procurement policies, procedures, controls, and P2P processes.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and Power BI.
  • Advanced English proficiency (C1–C2), with the ability to communicate effectively with global stakeholders and senior leadership.

Preferred Background

Candidates with previous experience in Indirect Procurement within global or multinational companies, particularly in Global Business Services, Shared Services, or centralized procurement organizations, are strongly aligned with the requirements of this position.
