The Risk Analytics team is in charge of helping define, understand, and guide the company on existing and emerging trends in cyber risk. The team utilizes a wide toolset of advanced analytics skills and models to identify shifts in market and risk performance, and then drives these insights into actionable decisions for the company.
You’ll be joining a team of creative, technical, and innovative individuals with diverse backgrounds, and report directly to the Senior Manager of Risk Analytics. You’ll be surrounded by a team that loves what they do, leverages technology to improve efficiency & minimize duplicative work, and recognizes the enormous responsibility that they have – to support key business decisions with data backed insights and a deep understanding of insurance risk.
Role Overview:
We’re looking for someone with a strong insurance and actuarial background, with enough knowledge of the traditional actuarial methods to know how to apply it in non-traditional ways. As a Senior Risk Analyst on the team, you’ll leverage your background to design creative and innovative methods of understanding cyber risk, and then transform them into cross-functional business decisions.
Your work directly contributes to At-Bay’s risk assessment framework that helps with data-driven decisions involving millions of dollars of exposure. This is a multidisciplinary role that includes developing strong cyber and tech knowledge, business acumen, research, and analytical skills.
How you’ll make an impact:
By 3 months…
- You’ll have a working understanding of the Cyber insurance market, and of the components of the cyber insurance policy and coverages
- You’ll have a working understanding of the Cyber risk landscape, and what risk exposures exist across company’s networks and how the threat actor ecosystem impacts it
- You’ll have an understanding of how teams operate at At-Bay and their perspectives, including teams such as Cyber Research, Security Services, or Claims.
- You’ll be able to calculate and understand/explain key metrics
- You’ll understand and be able to navigate At-Bay’s internal data structure and dashboards/reports.
- You’ll start performing risk analysis to inform and support strategic decision-making, balancing profitability and growth
By 6 months…
- You’ll be proactively identifying anomalies, trends, and business opportunities, utilizing analyses such as loss cost reviews, macro industry trends, and impact of mix shifts & past actions
- You’ll be partnering with the Cyber Research team to identify emerging vulnerabilities across the Cyber risk landscape, and regularly provide cyber risk insights and proposed actions for stakeholders
- You’ll be conducting deep dive analysis on historical loss & product experience, leveraging advanced analytical tools and data techniques.
- You’ll have working relationships with key stakeholders and start collaborating to share insights and identify opportunities to drive material impact on the portfolio.
- You’ll be collaborating with the Insurance Product Team to recommend and propose risk actions based on monitoring and review of internal tools
- You will be helping improve the operational efficiency of the Risk team through automation and optimization.
What you’ve accomplished already:
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field
- 3+ years P&C experience in an insurance company/tech company/Insuretech/consulting company
- Direct actuarial experience, with ACAS to FCAS or other equivalent designation preferred
- Strong expertise with SQL, with direct working experience
- Strong expertise with Python and/or R, with direct working experience
- Strong data visualization and presentation skills, with direct working experience
- Experience with a BI tool, such as Tableau, Looker, Power BI, etc.
Our estimated base pay range for this role is $140,000-$160,000 per year. Base salary is determined by a variety of factors including but not limited to market data, location, internal equitability, domain knowledge, experiences and skills.
