We’re looking for an ambitious finance professional to help manage the finance function across our insurance and corporate entities. You’ll lead or support day-to-day accounting functions, manage financial reporting, and help to ensure accuracy in our financial records. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to support the company’s growth and reporting needs, contributing to building a strong finance foundation at Dayforward.

ROLE

  • Support the preparation and maintenance of financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with US GAAP and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Assist with the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Assist with audit engagements and the audit process.
  • Help maintain and update accounting records and files per company policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure proper financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather data and support business decisions.
  • Assist in implementing and improving accounting processes and internal controls to ensure efficiency and compliance.

YOU

  • Have 2-5 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance, preferably within the life insurance or financial service industry
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and statutory reporting (life insurance and annuity specific knowledge is a plus)
  • Experience with financial statement preparation, account reconciliation, and general ledger management
  • Familiarity with insurance industry-specific regulations and reporting requirements (NAIC, etc.) is desirable
  • Advanced in Microsoft Excel (vlookup, sumif, index and product formulas) and accounting software (experience with QBO a plus)
  • Proficiency in leveraging AI tools and integrating them into accounting processes where applicable to improve efficiency
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities with a proactive mindset, demonstrating creativity and innovation in addressing challenges
  • Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders in a remote environment
  • A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required; CPA or progress toward obtaining a CPA is a plus; CPCU designations are a plus.

JOB DETAILS

The role is full-time and remote. The company may require in-office work in New York and/or New Jersey from time to time.

SALARY

$55,000-$140,000 based on experience and qualifications.
