Enterprise Risk Manager
INSHUR
🚕 Are you keen to work somewhere that’s stimulating and friendly, with loads of opportunities for growth and plenty of freedom to make a real impact? This could be the place for you!
We are looking for an Enterprise Risk Manager to join us at INSHUR! We’re based in sunny Brighton ☀️ (sea 🌊, chips 🍟, and seagulls 🕊️ included), and our company embraces a hybrid working model, allowing you to thrive in both collaborative office settings and the comfort of your own home 🏠. You’ll have the opportunity to work remotely while also connecting with your colleagues at our Brighton office at least twice a month, fostering a dynamic and supportive environment.
Supported by (and reporting to) the General Counsel, you'll be joining a friendly team of 5 who believe that a strong culture of risk and compliance goes beyond adhering to rules and regulations and must be integrated with everything we do. How we conduct ourselves is as critical to Inshur’s success as making the best products available to our customers.
We value high performance and care deeply about making INSHUR a place where everyone is building something special, that we can all be proud of, while enjoying the ride.
What You'll Do
As our Enterprise Risk Manager, you will be a champion of risk, driving a proactive risk culture and embedding a strong risk mindset across the business. You will oversee operational risk management and internal controls, ensuring clear and effective risk reporting. Collaborating closely with Risk Owners, you will monitor our evolving risk profile, identify emerging threats, and stay ahead of internal and external developments that could impact our operations. Your role will be pivotal in shaping a risk-aware organisation that balances compliance with strategic growth.
You’ll Be Working On
- Driving Risk Strategy: Supporting the UK Chief Executive, UK Board and UK senior management team in delivering the Risk Management Plan.
- Overseeing Operational Risk: Reviewing and challenging risk profiles, key indicators, and incident responses to ensure robust risk management.
- Enhancing Risk Frameworks: Strengthening risk identification, assessment, and control processes while embedding strong governance.
- Leading Risk Assessments: Facilitating workshops, overseeing self-assessments, and engaging with key stakeholders to evaluate and mitigate risks.
- Collaborating Across Teams: Working with business units to embed a consistent and pragmatic risk management approach.
- Managing Risk Appetite: Ensuring risk exposure aligns with business objectives and taking action where risks exceed appetite.
- Handling Risk Events: Investigating incidents, conducting root-cause analysis, and implementing control improvements.
- Strengthening Assurance: Reinforcing the control environment by working closely with key stakeholders.
- Driving Efficiency: Identifying opportunities to digitise, automate, and streamline risk processes.
- Risk Reporting & Governance: Supporting risk reporting for committees and boards, contributing to emerging risk assessments, and facilitating well-informed decision-making through clear governance and committee management.
🎯 While we prioritise aptitude and passion over a strict checklist of requirements, we've outlined a core set of skills we believe will lead to success in this role. To make things clear, we’ve categorised them into “essentials to thrive in the role” and “additional skills that could set you apart”
