At Inspectify, we are a venture backed start-up building the marketplace for home inspections, appraisals, and more. Our software platform and mobile app for inspectors and appraisers streamlines the experience for all parties while simultaneously capturing comprehensive data about that can be leveraged for downstream use cases such as limited home warranties, home energy assessments, renovations, and more. We operate in both the United States and Canada and partner with prominent real estate players, ranging from publicly traded REITs, to home builders, property managers, real estate agents, among others.
We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join our growing Finance team. Ideally based in Quebec (we are open to remote anywhere in Canada), you’ll be responsible for the daily pulse of our high transaction volume business. A typical day might involve spending one or two hours reconciling the cash transactions from the day before, ensuring invoices are sent to customers, followed by assisting our Sr Financial Analyst and Head of Finance with forecasting or due diligence for a fundraising round. This is a small, albeit rapidly growing, start-up with the opportunity to work cross functionally and accelerate your career development in a variety of potential directions.
You Will:
- Ensure accurate invoices are sent to all customers in a timely manner
- Assist, and increasingly own, monthly, quarterly, and annual book closing procedures
- Post journal entries for various accruals such as deferred revenue, allowance for bad debt, etc.
- Reach out and follow up with key accounts to collect outstanding receivables
- Make sure the bank reconciliation is as close to “real time” as possible
- Help identify, build, and integrate our financial software ecosystem
- Serve as a key player to brainstorm new ideas and ad hoc projects
- Work with the VP of Engineering, based in Quebec, to assist with occasional compliance matters
You Have:
- A degree in Accounting, Finance, and/or Economics
- Working knowledge of MS Excel and/or Google Sheets
- A desire to apply your skills, learn, and grow within the intersection of finance and tech
- 0 to 5 years of experience in Accounting/Finance
- An excitement to solve problems in innovative ways and a belief in continuous improvement
- An analytical mind, wired to turn data into actionable insights
Nice to Have:
- Experience with accounting software solutions (Quickbooks, Sage Intacct, Netsuite, Bill.com, Expensify, Brex, etc)
- Coding experience (Python, Ruby on Rails, SQL, etc (not necessary, but would be cool!))
