Munich Re of Malta p.l.c. (MRoM) is a subsidiary of Munich Re with a portfolio of more than € 4bn premium stemming from group-internal retrocession and third party reinsurance in Life, Health and
Non-Life from markets all over the world. The business is written in close cooperation with the business units within the Munich Re Reinsurance Group.
We are looking for a suitable experienced candidate to join our dedicated team and contribute to acquiring new business and managing the inforce block. The (Senior) Actuary will work on a broad range of topics with international internal and external clients, with a primary focus on Life reinsurance business.
The position is located in Malta.
Your Job:
- Identification of internal retrocession and third party reinsurance new business opportunities, primarily in Life but also for Health and Non-Life in close cooperation with MR business units worldwide.
- Actuarial and holistic assessment of incoming business.
- Structuring of Life reinsurance transactions incl. support in Non-life and Health.
- Client Management and Business Development for the local Maltese Market.
- Management of incoming business according to MRoM’s risk appetite, capitalization and guidelines.
- Monitoring of business development, including impact on capitalization and profitability of MRoM.
- Streamlining internal processes and managing interfaces with Munich Re entities worldwide.
Your Profile:
- High level University degree.
- Qualified or student actuary under the German/US/UK or any equivalent actuarial education system.
- At least 5 years’ experience in life insurance/reinsurance within an actuarial role. Past exposure to Health or Non-Life reinsurance considered an advantage.
- Willingness to cope with a broad range of matters and be prepared to develop expertise beyond the current scope of knowledge.
- Very good understanding on profit testing, risk capital and capital related issues.
- Experience with underwriting guidelines and reinsurance treaty wordings. Ideally experience with Life pricing tools and financially motivated reinsurance.
- Fluent business English and ability to communicate with people at all levels.
- Good client management skills.
