As part of the ongoing digital transformation of underwriting, we are seeking a Graduate Trainee – AI Implementation to support the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Generative AI (GenAI), and automation technologies within the Parametric Natural Catastrophe (NatCat) underwriting team, with a particular focus on NatCat modelling and analytics topics.

Your Job

  • Supporting the implementation of AI, GenAI, and agent-based solutions across the underwriting lifecycle with a clear focus on NatCat modelling and risk assessment topics
  • Actively supporting in building, testing, and integrating solutions, including writing code, configuring agent-based workflows, and connecting AI components with existing underwriting systems
  • Experience the opportunities and insights offered by one of the world's leading risk managers
  • Participate in an international assignment of 12 weeks to broaden your intercultural experience
  • Acquire profound knowledge of our business as well as further developing your soft skills in our distinguished global learning programme
  • Take the opportunity to quickly build a broad network of industry experts within Munich Re worldwide

Your Profile

  • Very good university degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Geosciences, or a related quantitative field
  • Initial work experience (e.g. internships or up to two years of work experience after graduation), ideally in the field of Data Science, AI or Geodata processing
  • At least three months experience abroad (studies or internship/work experience abroad)
  • Solid practical skills in at least one programming or scripting language (Python, R, Matlab)
  • Strong interest in applied AI, machine learning, or Generative AI in a real-world business environment, ideally in the context of natural catastrophe risk modelling
  • Foundational knowledge of statistics and data analysis, including experience working with real-world datasets
  • Experience or exposure to geospatial data is a strong advantage
  • Strong analytical skills, structured approach to problem-solving, and high attention to detail
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders in a regulated environment and willingness to learn
  • Strong written and verbal communication in English required, German is an advantage
