The Client Manager for Vietnam is a pivotal relationship management and business development role responsible for managing and growing Munich Re's life reinsurance portfolio in Vietnam. You will serve as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of life insurance clients, building trusted partnerships, identifying growth opportunities, and delivering tailored reinsurance solutions aligned with clients' strategic priorities.
This role combines commercial acumen with technical reinsurance knowledge, requiring the ability to engage stakeholders from C-suite executives to underwriting and actuarial teams within client organizations.
Your Role
Client Relationship Management
- Serve as the primary relationship owner for an assigned portfolio of life insurance clients in Vietnam, ensuring high levels of client satisfaction and engagement.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with key decision-makers including CEOs, CFOs, Chief Actuaries, and Underwriting Managers.
- Conduct regular client visits, business reviews, and strategic dialogues to stay close to clients' evolving needs and priorities.
- Act as the internal advocate for clients within Munich Re, coordinating across actuarial, underwriting, claims, and product teams to deliver cohesive solutions.
Business Development & Growth
- Identify and develop new reinsurance opportunities within the existing client portfolio and with prospective clients in Vietnam.
- Develop and execute account plans with clear financial targets, pipeline management, and strategic account goals.
- Lead end-to-end execution processes including opportunity identification, proposal development, negotiation, and contract closure.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and regulatory developments in the Vietnamese life insurance market to inform go-to-market strategies.
- Collaborate with the regional Head of Business Development to define and implement Vietnam market strategy.
Technical & Solution Delivery
- Understand and articulate Munich Re's suite of reinsurance products including mortality, morbidity, longevity, and financial solutions.
- Work closely with internal actuarial and product teams to structure competitive, technically sound reinsurance proposals.
- Support clients in product development initiatives by providing Munich Re's insights, pricing, and technical assistance.
- Ensure accurate and timely quotations, treaty documentation, and post-placement support in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
Portfolio & Financial Management
- Manage the financial performance of the Vietnam client portfolio, tracking premium volumes, profitability, and persistency metrics.
- Monitor treaty performance and proactively address any claims or experience issues with clients.
- Provide regular reporting on portfolio performance, pipeline status, and market developments to regional leadership.
- Ensure compliance with Munich Re's pricing and underwriting guidelines, treaty terms, and local regulatory requirements.
Market Intelligence & Thought Leadership
- Represent Munich Re at industry conferences, forums, and events in Vietnam and the broader SEA region.
- Contribute to Munich Re's reputation as a knowledge partner by sharing market insights, whitepapers, and technical seminars with clients.
- Maintain an up-to-date understanding of Vietnam's insurance regulatory environment.
Your Profile
- Bachelor's degree or above in Actuarial Science, Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field.
- Professional actuarial qualification (FSA, FIA, or equivalent) or progress toward qualification.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in life insurance or life reinsurance, with at least 2 years in a client-facing or business development role.
- Solid understanding of life and health insurance products, underwriting principles, and reinsurance structures.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and grow commercial relationships in a B2B financial services environment.
- Fluency in Vietnamese and English (written and spoken); strong cross-cultural communication skills.
- Existing network within Vietnam's life insurance industry (insurers, actuarial communities and regulators) and experience working in a multinational reinsurance or insurance organization is preferred.
