CFO is responsible for the integrity of the financial information of the business and the custodian of shareholder value. This includes accounting, all facets of financial reporting, Non-life and Life actuarial reporting, expense management and processing, capital management, investment accounting and tax accounting. The division is a shared service function and it services all entities in Australia and New Zealand.

The LARM team deliver relevant and reliable information on financial reporting, analysis, risk, capital and value to stakeholders. In the life insurance reporting system, IFRS, VNB and local statutory valuations are considered especially complicated. At MRA, the dedicated professionals who investigate these complex calculations are members of an elite team known as the Life Actuarial Risk Management(LARM).

Your Role

IFRS 17 Support

  • Prepare and submit cashflows for data hub including quality assurance
  • Extract and supply data/cashflows including quality assurance
  • Investigate issues and respond to questions
  • Run ad hoc models
  • System testing

AXIS Projection Software

  • Run AXIS models, implement coding changes, and check results within AXIS
  • Identify and recommend model improvements resulting in improved efficiency and controls
  • Contribute to the production of change control documentation covering models and assumptions

Valuation Support

  • Data Reconciliations
  • FSRI (Accounting) Data Extractions
  • Provision of FSRI upload files
  • Specify and run VICE models and extract results
  • Assist with the completion of statutory returns

Actuarial Support

  • Assist the Head of Valuation and Appointed Actuary with special projects and other LARM activities, as required

Your Profile

  • Some Life insurance experience (e.g. from reinsurance, insurance or consulting environments)
  • Ability to identify and investigate issues
  • Strong MS Excel skills
  • Ability to present work topics within LARM
  • University degree, with details of university academic performance (e.g. WAM, GPA, or equivalent grading system) included in the resume is required
  • IAA Part I exams or equivalent completed
  • IAA Part II exams or equivalent completed (desirable)
  • Sitting or expecting to sit IAA Part III exams or equivalent (desirable)
