The Role

The Senior Accountant is a vital position on the accounting team at SPAN. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, this individual will demonstrate the ability to be self-directed and prioritize important tasks while working with limited oversight. Additionally, the Senior Accountant will demonstrate a strategic mindset and act in a fiduciary capacity with respect to the company’s assets and business interests . Critical skills for this position include solid experience with US GAAP, clear communications, being a team player, maintaining confidentiality, detail-oriented, and acting with the highest degree of integrity.

About You

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and accruals

  • Minimum three years of direct experience with accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger journal entries and reconciliations

  • Must have recent proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, with intermediate to advanced Excel skills

  • Must have proficiency with NetSuite. Experience with FloQast or Blackline, Ramp and Boomi is a plus

  • Customer service orientation, tact and negotiation skills

  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail

  • Proactive, self-motivated, takes initiative and ability to work with little supervision

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment

  • The ability to exercise professional skepticism and work independently

  • Organized and excellent follow-through a must; detail-oriented and deadline driven

  • Demonstrates resourcefulness; flexible to adapt to changing needs/priorities

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience preparing flux analysis and financial statements preferred

  • Mfg./electrification industry experience a plus

  • Public accounting experience preferred

  • CPA (or pursuing) preferred

Responsibilities, Duties, and Expectations:

  • Monthly, quarterly and annual accounting close entries and reconciliations for various general ledger accounts, including payroll, stock based compensation, prepaids, investments, debt and equity securities, fixed assets and capitalized software.

  • Propose accounting procedures, and processes and implement best practices to increase quality and speed of closing activities in assigned areas

  • Review daily treasury activity

  • Review and analyze monthly financial statements and flux analysis

  • Assist in preparation and reporting of financial results to the executive leadership team and broader management

  • Assist with investor and compliance reporting

  • Assist with Income Tax and Sales Tax filing and reporting

  • Run the regular accounting team stand-up and close meetings

  • Support the sales and sales operations teams with processing customer credits and billings, and the implementation of new programs as needed

  • Oversee the customer rebate process

  • Manage the customer collections process

  • Support the annual financial statement and bank audit processes

The U.S. base salary range for this position is $99,000 - $156,000 plus benefits, equity and variable compensation for Sales-related roles. This range represents SPAN’s good faith estimate of competitively-priced salary for the role based on national, real-time industry data from companies of a similar growth stage. This range reflects minimum and maximum new hire salaries for the role across US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by location and individual factors including relevant skills, experience and education or training. This range correlates to the relative level of the candidate we believe we need for the role and may require an adjustment for candidates of a different level.
