CAD Engineer
VEIR
WHY VEIR?
VEIR is enabling a new generation of compact, efficient, high-power, and long-distance power delivery solutions, solving bottlenecks that exist across the entire electricity value chain, from generation through to data center server racks. VEIR's low voltage superconducting solutions are enabling new power delivery architectures in the world’s largest data centers and our higher voltage solutions are poised to revolutionize the development of electricity transmission and distribution lines. VEIR is preparing for rapid growth as we seek to solve critical challenges facing data center developers, electricity generation developers, and utilities around the world.
VEIR is seeking a highly skilled CAD Designer to support the development of our next generation of high-temperature superconducting cable systems and cryogenic infrastructure. In this role, you’ll translate engineering concepts into precise, manufacturable drawings and models that enable VEIR’s product teams to build, test, and scale our technology.
You will work closely across all of the engineers, creating detailed SolidWorks models, generating P&IDs and PFDs, supporting design reviews, and ensuring accurate documentation flows through the entire engineering process. This position is central to maintaining our engineering quality, speed, and rigor as we move rapidly toward commercialization.
The ideal candidate brings strong CAD fundamentals, mechanical intuition, and a high level of ownership. You thrive in a fast-paced environment, enjoy working across multiple disciplines, and take pride in producing accurate, clean, and reliable technical drawings that teams can build from with confidence.
What You’ll Do
- Use your expertise with CAD software to create detailed technical drawings that meet industry and company standards.
- Collaborate closely with Designers, Engineers, and Production teams to ensure accurate execution of designs.
- Develop detailed models and assemblies in SolidWorks based on customer drawings, engineering notes, and sketches.
- Create Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), and room layouts using DraftSight with quick turnaround times.
- Ensure accuracy by reading and interpreting orthographic (2D) and isometric (3D) designs and manufacturing drawings.
- Process Engineering Change Notices and Design Packages, ensuring release to all relevant departments.
- Measure components, gather missing information, and seek clarification to complete tasks efficiently.
- Maintain and develop parametric drawing templates to streamline the design process.
Skills You Have
- Proficient in SolidWorks with 2+ years of modeling and drafting experience.
- Skilled in AutoCAD or DraftSight, particularly in piping and technical drafting.
- Basic proficiency with MS Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings (2D/3D).
- Experience with P&ID drafting.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines across different departments.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with PDM systems and Engineering Change Orders.
- Knowledge or experience in cryogenics, oil & gas, or related industries.
Who You Are
- You have strong mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn.
- You are an outstanding communicator (written and verbal) and work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- You are motivated by the opportunity to contribute to impactful, cutting-edge technologies.
- You are results-driven — you gauge success by measurable impact, not by the length of your to-do list, and you know how to ruthlessly prioritize.
- You thrive when managing multiple projects with competing priorities, making decisions under pressure, and working under tight deadlines.
- You are highly curious, solutions-oriented, and excel at breaking down complex problems into manageable components.
- You are comfortable with the role’s working conditions — research laboratory environments and periodic outdoor work (testbeds, pilot demonstrations).
- You are committed to VEIR’s mission, goals, and core values.
