Position Description:

Starfish Space is growing fast and looking for a Senior Accountant to bolster our finance team. Starfish values both accounting and operational work in its accountants - thus, you will own preparation and maintenance of financial records, and use your problem solving skills to solve financial challenges across the business. Successful applicants will have a demonstrated history of driving problem solving across the business, and previous experience in strategy or implementation work is valued in addition to the core accounting skills.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an accountant who wants to expand their impact beyond accounting, and who wants their role to grow quickly with a fast-growing space startup.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare, review, and finalize monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reporting
• Contribute to financial analysis and planning, with opportunity to own a significant portion of it if desired
• Partner with other business functions to drive operational improvements
• Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements
• Lead and support audits and audit documentation
• Coordinate tax preparation and filings

Requirements:

• US person (citizen, permanent resident, or designated asylee / refugee, in order to comply with ITAR requirements)
• Experience with accounting at a startup or reputable accounting firm
• Willing to work from our Tukwila, WA headquarters several days per week
• Capable of working a dynamic, fast-paced startup environment where job tasks change regularly and there are few established processes
• Willingness to "get into the weeds" with accounting, models, and the day-to-day finance tasks to run a business

Desired Experience:

• Excellent written and verbal skills along with a high level of professionalism and integrity
• Previous experience owning and solving challenging finance problems in a startup environment
• Previous startup, accounting, or finance experience
• Previous exposure across disciplines within corporate finance

ITAR Requirements To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
